In his career as an astronaut, Scott has spent more than eight weeks in space on 5 different shuttle flights. Having conducted 7 spacewalks (EVAs), he is considered one of the most experienced spacewalkers. He was instrumental in the construction of the International Space Station and received two NASA Distinguished Service Medals for his contributions to space exploration. Eventually, Scott became the chief of NASA’s EVA branch and held other senior leadership roles. A consummate adventurer, he is also the only astronaut to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. A native of Arkansas, Scott is now the University Explorer and Professor of Practice at ASU in Tempe, AZ.
